Great Tomkyns. A good example of a c15 yeoman's hall house with exposed timber framing;
Barn Thatched weather boarded datable to the c13 or c14,  Unusually, it has a complete set of carpenters' marks which follow a circuit round the building, suggesting the order of assembly. Listed Grade II*. timber framed barn.

Substantial area of common land also called Upminster Common. Defended from enclosure by locals 1950s.
