Gas works, W.Joynson gaslight. 1862, Cray Gas Co., until 1909.  Closed and amalgamated with Bromley Gas Co.

Lynmouth Rise

Denehole  1937 appearance of a shaft leading to a chalk chamber.  The collapse occurred in a .field close to the railway station when the foundations of a house were being laid.  

10 subsidence 1977 occurred in the rear garden. who found a collapse in the rockery which led to a cavity in Thanet Sand. almost certain that this was the collapsed shaft of a denehole

Station Approach

St Mary Cray Station 1860 Between Swanley and also Chiselhurst and Bickley. 1860 opened staggered platforms. Fruit growing and special platform for manure. 1958 rebuilt

A certain Mr. Edward Venus. First Officer in the Crays Fire Brigade, recalled the time when a bridle path crossed the spot where the first St. Mary Cray Station was built. The path continued through the north side of the churchyard and then via Star Lane to Swanley, eventually joining the main Pilgrims Way at Otford.
