Cranham Marsh Reserve
The sites were acquired by the local authority in 1976 and were part of a marshy area which once covered much of this area. There is ancient and secondary with several springs which make up the marshy areas. South of this is pasture but which often is covered with surface water. However local field drainage, gravel extraction and the M25 have reduced the flow of water into the area. So clay dams have been built along the stream, however water voles dig their through them and cause leaks.
Middle Wood, this is ancient woodland surrounding Eastern Marsh.
Bonus Wood is managed by the Essex Naturalists' Trust and is grazed.
