Church Road

St. Mary The Virgin. Church. 13th nave, brasses, double piscina etc, etc. Rubble sandstone building. Originally a daughter church of the one at Brasted. The parish seems to have been taken from the Chevening parish in a long thin shape which reflected secular land ownership.

Monks Well descend some recently unearthed ancient steps and follow the path to a group of old convoluted chestnut trees. In their midst is Monks Well, a delightful stone cave enclosing a spring and reputably built five centuries ago when a priory once stood about this spot.

Old Rectory 19th

The Toll Wood

A knoll with a cedar tree. Monks stood there in times of religious persecution keeping an eye out.

Tarmac path, going to the Darent from the Old Hall.  Siskins in the alders.
