Edgwarebury Lane

Bury Farm.  A rural survival: L-shaped, with a c17 double-gabled wing, partly jettied over a brick ground floor, and a brick wing. Bury Farm 17th century. Half timbered, leaded panes and sphinxes. Was Edgwarebury Farm or Earlsbury Farm – required to provide accommodation for the lords of the manor from the 17th.  Replaced in 18th. Dick Turpin said to have stolen silver, raped the daughter and poured boiling water over the owner.
