The Manor of Groves Golf and Country Club
Grove Lodge. Early 19th house on the site of an earlier house
probably built for Thomas Nathaniel Williams, in 1823. This was the manor of lands which belonging to Reading Abbey up to the Dissolution. Stucco neo-classical house in a small park with pavilions at each end and fronted by a colonnade – there are two columns from Old London Bridge here. Inside is a cantilevered stair. It is now a hotel and country club which opened in 1992
