Staines Park. The Resource Centre provides a scrap store for art and craft goods.
Model Railway. The Staines Society of Model Engineers dates from the end of 1945 and restated in 1973. The club then began to look for a site for their track which was opened in 1978.

Wheatsheaf Lane
Staines Town Football Club. The town's St Peter's Institute football team took part in the FA Cup in 1879, but Staines Town Club was formed in 1892 and then merged with St Peter's Institute.  Near the end of the Second World War the club re-formed as Staines Vale.  Planning permission for a Conference and health facility was granted in 2000 and the work was finished by 2003.


Worple Road
Staines Cricket and Hockey Club. Staines Hockey Club was formed in 1890, and Its early years were very successful with internationals playing for the club and a number of gold medals being won in the 1908 Olympic Games. After the Second World War things were less bright. A grass pitch was hired on the Staines Linoleum Company's sports ground in Mill Mead, and post match entertaining was initially at the Packhorse Hotel and subsequently at the Railway Hotel. In 1961, the Club played on Laleham Village Recreation and, tea was taken in the Scout Hut and the "Three Horseshoes”. In 1972 with the Staines & Laleham Cricket Club whose ground had been sold for housing development and a lease was obtained on a ground in Worple Road, owned by London Transport. The Cricket Club had received money for leaving their ground and a brick pavilion was built and 4 hockey pitches and two cricket squares were laid out. In the early 1990s London Transport agreed to sell the land to the cub and a loan was obtained from Spelthorne Council.

South Norwood

Post to the south Woodside Post to the east Birkbeck Post to the north Anerley Albert Road This road is the earliest built here, first listed in 1855, and although the Croydon Canal was no longer in use it influenced the alignment of the road. From the junction with Portland Road looking the curve of the road reflects the line of the old canal which was to the north of the houses. It is named after Albert, the Prince Consort. 74-76 Stanleybury . Very large three-storey semis. Built for William Stanley, who moved to 74 in 1867. William Stanley’s works in South Norwood was complimented by his local philanthropy. His site is now a close of modern flats. Accidentally demolished. 67 small trading estate and MOT centre .  At one time this was home to a theatre transport specialist. St.Mark . This was the first church in the area and is the parish church by G. H. Lewis. The nave was built in 1852 and the church was extended in 1862 and in successive years until 1890. It is in Kentis

River Lea/Bow Creek Canning Town

River Lea/Bow Creek The Lea winds itself generally southwards towards the Thames TQ 39505 81448 Canning Town on the Essex bank of Lea/Bow Creek. This was, and is, a heavily industrialised area together with a very down market housing area with markets, shops, cinemas, pubs and many charitable and missionary organisations. In the 2000s public transport has been transformed and much housing renewed, and it is an area in a great deal of change.
