There are drains either side of the dip and you can always hear running water in them, even when it has been dry for days and there is no water to be heard in other drains nearby. I believe that there is a spring here, which would run down behing the houses on Cheviot towards the tennis courts. I would lke to think that the spring here is one of the sources of the Effra. Old maps show a number of springs on the side of the hill feeding the Effra in the valleyDonnoreply@blogger.com
