Fairlawne Park.

Fairlawne House. used to be the home of Sir Henry Vane who was executed by Charles II for his support of Oliver Cromwell. Vane used his trial to make spirited defence of the sovereignty of Parliament.  Bought by Edward Cazalet in 1871.

Astride A227. Yew walk planted by Sir Henry Vane in 1684. Also complex water supply system from Ivy Hatch Plain and rather puzzling house. Belfry and cupola.

Footpath through western section of park parallel to main road is Roman line. House, like Mereworth, by James Gibb
