Bancroft Gardens

Laid out in 1969 on the site of St.Nicholas’ School which itself was laid out on the site of a golf course.

Broomhill

Hamlet on high ground west of Orpington. Broom was used for broom making. Also bonnets were made here. 1790s mentions of the area. Malcolm Campbell test runs and flights here.

Pump near the church.  Filled in

4-6 cottages demolished 1935 were the old Zion chapel converted.

Chiselhurst Road

93 Cricketers pub. Well-respected community pub, a favourite with locals, it has a good atmosphere. Overlooking Broomhill Common, it is a few minutes' walk from the High Street. It has been run by the same family for many years. Framed cigarette cards of cricketers and boxing champions are displayed. This is very much a dog lovers' pub -dog biscuits are provided on request.

Devonshire Road

Zion chapel of 1819 covered this area.

Irene Road

Highlands. Denehole. Appeared after a garden party.

Laid out near the station, one of the first suburban areas of Orpington.
